The Dominican Republic can be found on the island of Hispaniola which it shares with Haiti and is the second largest country in the Caribbean. The island is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and the Caribbean Sea to the south. The lush tropical island boasts more than 900 miles of coastline which is dotted with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. One of the most diverse islands in the Caribbean visitors can explore the ancient relics of the First City of the Americas, enjoy delicious Dominican cuisine or take part in exciting adventures in the islands national parks, mountains, rivers and beaches.

Situated along the east of the island is the Dominican Repulics most lavish and popular resort - Punta Cana. The coast which is surrounded by spectacular turquoise waters, white sands and swaying palm trees has been attracting holidaymakers from around the world who come to explore the area’s natural treasures and pristine beaches. The best beaches in Punta Cana are Juanillo, Playa Blanca, Cabeza de Toro, Bávaro, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Macao and Uvero Alto.

Thanks to its great diversity, the island offers a variety of activities which include diving and snorkeling, playing golf on designer courses, visiting water parks with friendly dolphins and stingrays, and much more. For the more adventurous there is riding buggies through the jungle or enjoying adventure parks featuring zip lines, flight simulators, hiking trails and more.

The Dominican Republic enjoys a hot tropical climate year round with average daytime temperatures of between 29 – 32°C. The dry season is traditionally considered January to May and the wet season June to November. Hurricane season is generally June-October.
